There are five positions to play in volleyball and each position is mirrored in the front and back row.

Each player starts in a specific location but these locations are not to be confused with player positions setter middle blocker outside hitter opposite or libero. Basically one setter will set the back row rotations and another setter will sub in and set the front row rotations. The middle blocker will be back on the line to call the serve as usual.
